But after rubbing your eyes on more than one occasion and even dunking your head in a basin of freezing cold water, the horrible vision still remains. On the evening of Tuesday 28th March 2015, FC Bayern München had one of those evenings. That’s right. One of those evenings. Over two hours of football couldn’t separate FC Bayern from DFB-Pokal quarter-final opponents Bayer 04 Leverkusen, with a pulsating encounter going all the way to the lottery of a penalty shootout. In the end the matter was decided by one crucial save from goalkeeping hero Manuel Neuer and a calm and composed winning strike from comeback kid Thiago Alcântara – with Bayern coach Pep Guardiola calmly watching from the sidelines on a small wooden chair, at times rocking gently. FCB v Eintracht Braunschweig

FC Bayern continued their steady progress towards a third successive DFB-Pokal with a straightforward two-goal Pflichtsieg over second division Eintracht Braunschweig at the Allianz Arena. While the overall display against a highly defensive opponent provided plenty of missed opportunities and occasionally ventured into tedium, the two goals were right out of the top drawer.
